LOL. I'm not sure that tune travelled well, but we could use a bit of that power today, I think.
Who knew?
Today is National Sandra Day.
OK, there is one person on this board who better have known.
But of course you knew about April 25th, right? @EMark
Sometimes it DOES rain in Southern California. LA Kings, out.
Uh. No, I didn't. Help me out.
I did know that May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii.

At about 10:00 last night I became a big Edmonton Oilers fan.
I have to say, Edmonton offers the most entertaining national anthems. They have this guy standing in the audience who does an outstanding job with the "Star Spangled Banner"--the most unsingable national anthem ever written. He then does O Canada. Midway through, he holds up the microphone and the crowd finishes out. It's really great.
In the playoffs, the Kings had a group for a Korea Town senior center perform the Star Spangled Banner and the crowd was asked to sing along. That also was pretty good.
However, the Kings also hopped on the "Let's beat up on Canada" bandwagon with the Canadian national anthem.
O Canada is a terrific anthem--and it is singable. Even I can sing it. For Game 1, the Kings found some woman who. pretty much, trashed it. I was embarrassed. Then, they brought her back for Games 2 and 5. Thank goodness I won't be embarrassed any more this season.
So the Kings are out. Ok, here are the current playoff standings:
LET'S GO OILERS.
Oilers have done well picking up some very exciting players. Many of the second and third stringers are actually very fine hockey players in their own right. I only worry that McDavid and Draisaitl may get beaten up over time. But eliminate the Vegas Knights. Please. If Toronto can get past FLA this time, they stand a good chance at the Stanley Cup. Oh, and please, please get rid of the Blues, Winter-peg.
I washed and waxed Sandra's 2019 Mazda CX-3 this morning for Mother's Day. Three hour job, but it should earn me points for tomorrow.
Looks great, Al. I mut confess that I wash the car and SUV thoroughly but with the clear coat treatment have never really needed to wax. Of course, you can, but I just don't and the car looks great. Of course, it only has about 11,500 miles on it (though I would if I could put more).
When I have sold or traded in our cars over the years of past, I always get complimented on how nice they look. I only wax them once a year, but I do a good job and use a good wax. The water was still beading on the hood when I started washing this one, meaning that the wax was still doing it's job from last year's waxing.
As for not waxing the car at all, that works for the first years and then the finish can start to deteriorate. It's sad to see the paint fail on some cars from intense baking from the sun, when I know that a good wax job would have prevented that from happening.
You are right about the ultraviolet effect. I try to keep the car in a garage (not like the fools around here who store cheap toys and junk in the garage and expose their 80,000 USD cars to rain, snow and worst of all, sun. But people are people. If you leave the car out a lot in the sun or have sub-tropical light like you do in DC area, wax is a good thing. I totally agree.
This is interesting: Boy discovers shipwreck from 2 centuries ago in Canada
In beautiful Goderich ON no less.
Well, some things did happen in Ontario over the years.
15,000,000 people can't be wrong.
BTW, it was Toronto 2, Team that has No Right to Exist, 0
Maybe Canada will win the Stanley Cup this time? I'm fine with that.
I think the NHL should expand to Kinshasa, Congo.
Speaking of shockers, Demark 2, Canada 1 in the IIHF Quarterfinal. This is the biggest upset in decades. The USA defeated Finland 5-2. This is really quite unexpected. Heads will (or should) roll.
I will be hoping for the USA despite what has happened recently. However, I really do not want to watch the games now that Canada is out. We had a very strong team; how we lost is beyond understanding... and in the last two minutes of the game after opening the scoring. But the boring style of hockey worked.
Shocker.
Indeed. I thought it was a near impossibility. Of course, there is so much interference and holding now that no one seems to understand the rules of the game. Europeans seem to think that, if they don't have the skillful players to compete, they can always play boring German-style soccer on skates, I guess.
Oh oh. The fires are starting up again. Here we see the smoke from a wildfire in Manitoba.
Yes. I suppose that's our fault too, and more tariffs are on the way.
There will be more every year, and they will be bigger.
Also, there will be more and bigger hurricanes and more and bigger tornados.
Couldn't be climate change, though.
Absolutely not. We've been told by our current administration that there is nothing to worry about. In fact, they've canceled many studies that might prove otherwise.....
Cancel (lack of) culture?
More like putting your head in the sand as the world continues to churn.
There's always Mars, according to Elon. Assuming Starship actually gets there. Oh, I forgot: we just need to "increase the cadence" of testing. Problem two: how do we survive there? - in the long-term, I mean?
