First Berserker Day delivery
Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard
3 X Vertical selection of Nijawan Fsmily Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains Durif
Durif is the French name for the grape that is called Petite Sirah in the U.S.
.
Quinta Cruz
Quinta Cruz is a second labe of Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard. It specializes in wines made from grapes commonly found in Portugal.
Interesting. I just read that the Quinta Cruz "Toriga" bottling is a blend of Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional.
Second, and final, Berserker Day delivery.
,
Claricee Wine Co,
4 x Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir vertical.
Apologies for the unreadability of the labels. These labels are difficult to photograph and I am a lazy photographer to boot.
Interesting that 2020 was not included in this package. I know that a lot of PN vineyards in the Sonoma Coast AVA suffered from smoke taint from the 2020 fires, but Santa Lucia Highlands is pretty far from there. Now that I think of it, however, I think there was a major fire in Monterey County in 2020. So, I'll bet that was it.
All of these wines were made from grapes harvested from the Garys' and Rosella's vineyards. Each one is a different blend from these two vineyards, but I have lost track of that information.
I assume @EMark , that you refer to Ceritas Wines in Heraldsburg, Sonoma. Just wondering. I cannot obtain here, at least only rarely. The wines do not taste of cerite, I should hope, though I have not actually licked my lips on that mineral which is said to be based on lanthanum-cerium, such as found in Bastnäs in Västmanland, Sverige.
Nice Mark. Paul would of been all over that Clarice. He was a big fan of Adam Lee. I'll include myself as a fan.
The Edward Fitzgerald translation (he who taught himself Persian - with a little help from an Oxford professor) whilst living in near reclusiveness in Boulge, Suffolk). This is the back-of-beyond for England, and an old stronghold of Anglo-Saxon resistance to Norman invaders after Hastings (1066).
The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam supported Paul Burt in his enthusiasm for wine, to wit:
"Drink wine. This is life eternal. This is all that youth will give you. It is the season for wine, roses and drunken friends. Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.”
Fitzgerald was once quoted as saying that his entire family (which was one of the wealthiest in England at the time c. 1810-1860) was insane, including himself, but that at least he knew he was mad.
Yes, I do recall that Paul was a fan. The funny thing is that I was never crazy about Siduri wines. I admired Adam Lee because he has honest, but with something of a mischievous streak, It was after he sold Siduri and moved on to other project that I began to appreciate his PNs In the lockdown days I sat in on a few Zoom sessions he did with Mike Officer. They were a lot of fun.
Yes, the Healdsburg winery/ They produce outstanding PNs and Chardonnays. A few years ago they added CS to their portfolio, but I have never tried one of those.
I stopped at Total Wine & Beverage this afternoon to pick up a few Portuguese wines and even one Spanish one that I tasted at the recent Wine Party. I'm going to drink that Spanish Grenache tonight.
Great minds think alike, @BigAl . I have a Meandro from the same vintage.
Opening it on Tuesday perhaps?
That's the plan. I did want a Douro Branco from Julia Kemp, but don't really feel like driving downtown to get it. I've had Meandro (which is named as you probably have guessed what for) in the past, and it is quite good. They say the 2019 is better, but the 2018 will probably be easier on the palate being a year older.
Well, the Chino Hills Costco did not have that one. No surprise, there. Costco has their own algorithm for distributing wines to their stores, and, looking at Costco's success, I cannot criticize them.
I did, however, grab this one for $4.99
For substantially more than $4.99. I also grabbed this one:
At least you came away with some great deals.
We'll see.
Lately, I've been gettimg a lot of solicitations from various sellers for this Georges de Latour bottling. I don't know if this was a bargain. I'll let it rest for a few years.
As we like to say in NC, it's been a good day. Three shipments hit the doorstep, 2 from CA and one from OR.
Ryme
Six each Vermentino "Hers" and Aglianico Rose
Tablas Creek
Six each Roussanne and Patelin de Tablas Rosé
Holloran Vineyard Wines
Three each:
2019 Holloran Chardonnay Le Pavillon
2018 Holloran Pinot Noir Dundee Hills
2016 Holloran Pinot Noir Le Pavillon
2021 Holloran Pinot Noir Rosé Willamette Valley
You must like the Holloran wines. I've never heard of them before.
Whenever we go to wine country I try to find new places. This past trip we visited six different wineries, all new to us. Holloran and Dusky Goose stood out a bit above the others for quality with Hollorans wines a bit less expensive. August Cellars was nice because we spent a good amount of time chatting with the owner/winemaker and his wines are very reasonably priced.
@Vin0Vin0 - I hope you mentioned the Wine Lovers Forum that you belong to. I have found that it's usually good for a second pour.....
Would love to dive into those Tablas Creek Rhone-style whites and roses.
Simple dive or something more worthy of the Olympics?
Patiné Cellars
.
I am pretty sure this is the first Chardonnay released by Patiné. At least one bottle will be passed over to Peggy's brother.
Similarly, this is the first PN that I can recall from Patiné that is not a single-vineyard designate. We'll let it rest for a while before we check it out.
OLympic style pool with Tablas might just work.
Well, Bedrock hit, today. And Quivet.
I placed moderate (I guess that's in the eye of the beholder.) orders for both.
Well, rivety-quivet. No quivet here, unfortunately.
Don't laugh, I purchased my first ever "box" wine. Of course you know it isn't something cheap and sweet, as a matter of fact it's a 3 liter Tablas Creek Rose, so something of an olympic size swimming pool we'll be diving in to.
How much are we talking for that 3 liter box? I'm guessing $75 USD.
@BigAl great guess, with my wine club discount it was $76.

Keeping FedEx alive and well. Spring Mountain cab and cab blend plus Lagier Meredith BerserkerDay purchase of a case vertical of syrah.
