Chard is fine here also - our 2nd offering tonight is the Baudry Chinon - Wonderful brilliant ruby in the glass, notes of dark cherry, black berry, licorice, a slight pepper note a touch of funk that blew off. This is diametrically opposed to the last - so much so that it reminded me of a pinot noir (Siduri Zena Crown). Juicy and fun - 93 points =
The Baudry Chinon sounds delicious.
Ok, Chardonnay for next week.
Rick is back. This is an interesting wine. It has a nose of a kind of funkiness along with blackberry. The taste has the blackberry along with anise, pepper and on the cherry. That said the color and the flavor have all the distinction of a very good Pinot Noir. This however is a very tasty and juicy
wine. 92pys.
You guys are rating those wines at quite a high level. Maybe we need to come visit....and sample what you have on a wine night!
We could double the population of Park Falls! Or add substantially to the temporary residential population. BTW, I concur wholeheartedly with the assessment of the CF as almost like a slightly dense PN... as the Les Granges develops in the glass, I get more of those notes we associate with PN. If you like PN, you'll like anything by Baudry, only perhaps better - given that CF has a bit more oomf.
Nice to hear your final assessment. This was another wonderful evening. I'm looking forward to more wine....tomorrow I guess? Yes, every day is an excuse to enjoy some wine.
If you can do it, Al, why not? Last weekend, Darren and I downed nearly three bottles of some of the best Canadian wine - including a 2006 Blackwood Lane Reference. A bit rough on the body, but sometimes you just have to drink those surplus bottles. Not that I am promoting any excess, you understand.
Agreed, sounds like everyone had an excellent cab franc experience. I'm up for chardonnay but would also like to narrow the focus since chard is about as universal as cab sauv. Maybe something more specific like, Chablis, Russian River, Cotes d'or, Italy, non-California (OR, VA, WA, BC), aged (>10 years old), ...
I'd have to order most of those that you mention VV - so for me - I'd stick with what I've got - the cellar is bulging at the moment until I make my new bottle holders.
I'm thinking a Chardonnay from Oregon personally. If you keep it open, you might get a more world-wide perspective.
As I said - I'm only doing what I have. Not because I can't order - I just need to drink down the chards I have. What everyone drinks is fine with me.
I do not have any Chards - not sure what will happen - perhaps Florence has one for me
You go to Wegmans and buy a white Burgundy (Chardonnay). You also pick up a red Burgundy (Pinot Noir). You open both on the next Wine Night and we are all happy again.
I guess I have my directions - I just need to go there when there are not 1000 people there - that place can be scary!
Actually, it would be interesting to see all the different variations of chardonnay that everyone comes up with.
Chardonnay is white wine - perfect for a warm sunny day - hopefully it will be so next week
It's pushing 100, here, today. It's supposed to cool a bit next week. We'll see;
I purchased 2 bottles of Chardonnay for under $25 - yummy! Can't wait!
Now you're talking. Will you be opening both bottles to perform a direct comparison, or will you rely on your tasting memory to last until the 2nd bottle is open?
Wish some of that warmth was here now - 37 and snowy rain falling.
It will be down to 35 F overnight here in Northern Virginia but Mother's Day should warm up nicely. Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there.
Into the 20's again.
Weird. Was 27 degrees here... about 81 F. I heard that there was a local frost warning throughout a lot of the Midwest and east.
Yup - we've got flowering plants inside the front and back porches.
Any Chardonnay is fine. I'll probably drink a Chablis... not sure which yet.
I will open both bottles and compare. I purchased the Artie because of the label

We have a 2017 Domaine Drouhin 'Arthur' Chardonnay in the fridge.
Very nice Kathleen. I hope they are delicious.
Ditto that Kathleen
Vivino does not rate the Artie very high - who knows - it may be my favorite chardonnay!
