Woody and Allen coordinated this ride only an hour before it started. The weather was perfect this fine Saturday morning around 0830 and Woody called to say he needed to ride. Allen was only too happy to agree and the boys must have given the destination about 20 seconds of thought before they agreed it was a good day to ride down to Waugh Harley-Davidson in Orange, VA. There was a Porch Party going on today down there and that meant free lunch! So the boys met at our usual Jireh Bakery Cafe in Centreville at 0930 and the ride down to Waugh was via Route 28 to Route 15/29 and then Route 522 to Route 615 into Orange. It was a beautiful ride with a perfect temperature of the mid-70's.
Once the boys arrived they took some pictures of the bikes but then Woody saw his new love - the 2011 Harley-Davidson Blackline motorcycle. This is a new Softail model and Woody was starting to get pretty serious about wanting one. Jermaine, the guy that sold both Woody and Allen their Harley's many years ago, was there to make Woody an offer - but he turned it down. Had it been a bit less expensive, Woody might have jumped on the deal. He certainly looked good on the bike and they were offering $1500 towards accessories as part of the deal. In any case, Woody saved his money for a rainy day and the boys rode back home via Route 15 to Route 229, up to Route 211 and then onto Route 29. But the boys took a detour onto Dumfries Road and headed over to Woody's place in Centreville via Clifton. After a refreshing beer, the boys parted ways and Allen rode home via Popes Head Road to the Springfield Parkway. A very nice day and hopefully we'll see this kind of weather next weekend for Rolling Thunder!
Oh, that guy in the big photo had just bought that new Road Glide. He now has four bikes in his garage. He is retired of course but I suppose he isn't holding back on the rainy day money.... In the last picture, you'll see Woody telling Jermaine that he loves the bike but today is not the day he'll buy it.
