Show Us Your T-Shirt Ride on August 27th, 2005

Who did the ride: Gary / Kathy, Allen / Sandra

Another wonderful Saturday for the WORMS! Well, almost. It was raining in the morning, but there was a nice break at 12:30PM, so Sandra and Allen rode down to Fredericksburg to meet Gary and Kathy for this ride. We delivered their new WORMS T-shirts to their doorstep, and then we got the nickel tour of the new house. Just so you guys know, they have lots of goodies to eat, sodas to drink, free wireless Internet, and things of this nature. This might be a good safe house when a WORMS member gets in trouble with the law or his / her spouse. Anyway, we also delivered the new WORMS T-Shirts for Rick and Robin (who were in Georgia this weekend). Everyone else should now have their new WORMS T-Shirts, so be sure to wear them on our next ride.

So, we had a problem to deal with this time. The rain was quickly approaching, and we just had to do a ride. After a few quick pictures (see below), we rode down our favorite scenic road (Route 218) to "Caledon Natural Area". It was a good place to turn around. A designated National Natural Landmark, Caledon provides visitors the unique opportunity of viewing bald eagles in their natural habitat. Caledon and the surrounding areas are the summer home for one of the largest concentrations of bald eagles on the East Coast. As many as 60 eagles have been spotted on the bluffs overlooking the Potomac River in King George County. Preservation of the national bird's habitat is the primary focus of the natural area. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of Caledon by hiking and picnicking in a mature forest. We however, had to leave promptly, because the rain was approaching. Sure enough, it started to sprinkle just before we reached Gary and Kathy's new house. So now it was a race back home for Allen and Sandra. They got wet, but not soaking wet. It was time to clean up the Fat Boy anyway!

It was a fun but short ride. You just have to enjoy the curves on 218. Here's a link to the Caledon Natural Area if you wish to learn more.
