WORMS Recent Rides 2005

First Time Ever, Never Again Ride on August 6th, 2005

Who did the ride: Jim / Rose, Allen / Sandra

Another wonderful Saturday for the WORMS! With the treat of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday, the WORMS didn't know if this ride would happen. It stormed real good on Friday night - quite a light show. Come Saturday morning however, it was beautiful and a perfect summer day for a ride. Two bikes this time (WORMS, where are you??), but we had a good time. Patriot Harley-Davidson was having their 6th annual open house today, so we met there around 10AM. Allen bought some T-shirts, and Rose got a refund on some boots that didn't fit. We were on our way by 11AM, and heading up 123 to Hunter Mill Road. We wanted to get back up to Great Falls again, so we took Hunter Mill Road up to Route 7, and then Georgetown Pike. That took us past Great Falls, and then to the George Washington Parkway. This is a must-see road if there ever was one, because you can see the Washington Monument, the Capitol building, and a nice view of the Potomac River while cruising this road. We came to Old Towne Alexandria, and stopped at Pat Troy's Restaurant & Pub. Some of you old timers might remember that Ronald Reagan frequently dined at this pub, and they had lots of pictures of him hanging on the wall. After lunch, we split up, with Jim / Rose heading back up the George Washington Parkway towards Crystal City, and Allen / Sandra kept going south down to Mount Vernon. A very nice ride, with perfect weather. The clouds could be seen as we ended the ride, so the timing was perfect.
