It was another nice day in Northern Virginia and Allen decided that with the temperature at the mid-70's and the car washed, it was time for a ride. Today it was the chopper's turn to get out and stretch it's legs. What better place than to visit one of the local Hooters and grab some chicken wings & beer? Allen rode the back roads through Clifton (Henderson Road to Yates Ford Road) to the Manassas Hooters and while the scenery was great on those back roads, it was even better at Hooters. A lady named Savanna waited on Allen's table and wouldn't you know it? She was interested in posing for a few pictures on the chopper and there were a few other girls also looking forward to it. Things worked out nicely and these pictures are the result. This is the first Hooter photo shoot for 2010; there were four in 2009.

Mike and Allen were hoping to hook up with Woody and Emmett today for a ride over to Winchester Harley-Davidson, but Woody got tied up with contractors and Emmett was busy riding with his son who just purchased a new Ducati Monster. So Mike and Allen chatted a bit at our Starbucks in Clifton, then the boys headed up Route 50 towards Winchester H-D and wouldn't you know it - there were lots of bikes there along with a few race (sprint) cars too! We checked out the race cars and then went inside to sit on a few bikes. We did plan on eating at their cafe but it was closed. I guess they didn't make enough money last year. No problem however, as we stopped at a Checkers on the way back home from a 200 mile ride. Allen was able to find Crest Hill road, the one that intersects with Route 522 about 12 miles south of Front Royal. This is such a beautiful road and Emmett is the one who showed us the way last year. It was a beautiful day and although we only had 2 riders, we were thinking about everyone in our group and hoping that we see all of you at the Ride of the Patriots / Rolling Thunder on Memorial Day weekend.

The past few months have been very difficult weather-wise. The WORMS have only been out a few times and the winter cold has done it's best to send us back inside where it's nice and warm. Today was different however. The weather was predicted to reach the upper 50's and maybe even 60 F, and the WORMS weren't going to let that go by without a ride. We had a new member to introduce to - Hal Hanna from Stafford, VA. Hal has been riding bikes on and off for many years and he decided to give it another go last month when he bought a new 2008 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe (in blue). He got a good deal on the bike because it was a few model years back but brand new and it came with the full 5-year warranty. So several WORMS members (Rose, Jim, Mike, Allen and Hal) met down in Dumfries at East Coast Harley-Davidson on this fine Sunday morning and we then rode up Route 1 to the George Washington Parkway at Mount Vernon. We loved the ride along the Potomac and once we got past Old Towne Alexandria, we got off at Route 50 to enjoy a nice Mexican lunch at Tippy's Tacos. When our bellies were full we headed over to Patriot Harley-Davidson to check out the new bikes before splitting off and heading back home. It was about a 100 mile ride when you count getting to the start point and riding back home. Good times!

The recent snow storms, which basically started at the start of February for the WORMS living in Virginia, have been a real pain. Everyone is tired of shoveling snow and guess what - there is another snow storm coming towards the end of next week! But today was above freezing and partly sunny so it was a good day to fire the old V-Twin engine and ride over to Patriot Harley-Davidson in Fairfax VA to participate in their "double-points" event. Alas, only Allen ventured out on his bike. Other WORMS were either working (sorry Woody) doing chores (Jim, those can wait), sleeping in late (Rose, it was late in the morning), driving to NJ (Emmett, I feel your pain) or just plain busy with family birthday parties (I understand Mike). But you all missed seeing some cool 2010 Harley motorcycles, meeting a potential WORM recruit named John, and of course, enjoying some chicken wings and beer at Hooters. It was a good day for Allen and maybe we can ride tomorrow too? The weather will be just as nice.
