Welcome to Washington Operations Riders of MotorcycleS (WORMS)

WORMS Rides, 2009

Washington H-D Open House on Sept 26th

It was a no need for sunscreen type of morning as a small contingency of WORMS headed over to the Harley-Davidson of Washington, DC, “It’s A Free Country” outing. Mike, Jim and Rose met in Alexandria, Virginia at Mikes place of employment, Carlyle Place Apartments. With the threat of rain looming, we left Carlyle Place and headed over the Potomac River on I-495 E to Fort Washington, MD the home of Harley-Davidson of Washington, DC.

Due to the forecast of rain, turn out for the event was on the smaller side. Being WORMS, we are not worried by the possibility of rain and had a great time. Mike kept dreaming of owning the Street Glide trike that was in the showroom, Rose was looking for her Softail Deluxe that was nowhere to be found and Jim was wondering when the food line would start. Jim managed to send one of the lovely ladies into the dunk tank on his forth throw. All money raised from the dunk tank and bike wash was being contributed to the Muscular Dystrophic Association. While feasting on a tasty lunch provided by Moe’s Southwest Grill, we were entertained by the Bent Nickel Band. After lunch we watched the Prince George County Police Rodeo Team perform some amazing motorcycle maneuvers on their motorcycles. Though it was a short outing for the WORMS, we managed to stay dry and as always thoroughly enjoy ourselves.

USMV MC Fun Run in Culpeper on Sept 19th

The WORMS (Mike, Sandra, Allen, Jimmy and new member Zack) participated in a U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club (USMV MC) Culpeper Chapter 4 Fun Run event on a very nice Saturday morning / afternoon. We had a new WORMS member in the group - Zack who is a friend of Mike's. Zack is a Marine so he's ok in our book. Anyway, we met at our usual Starbucks in Clifton, rode down to the American Legion Post 330 in Culpeper and started the Fun Ride at that location. We had four more stops and the total mileage for the Fun Run was about 80 miles. There are some beautiful roads in Culpeper and we saw some nice ones. The weather was just about perfect and the lunch at the Griffin Taverin was very nice. Mike and Zack took off to head up north before completing the event but Sandra and Allen were there to collect the prizes at the end. Jimmy was stationed at the American Legion Post to welcome riders and keep things organized. Mike's red ticket won a dominoes set and Sandra won a T-shirt. Some guy won the 50/50 prize ($100) and he donated $80 back to the USMV MC's general fund. What a great guy!
