This should have been a nice ride after work. The temperature had risen to the high 60's and Allen headed over to the Hooters in Manassas using the backroads through Clifton. But the poor chopper started having ignition issues again. It quit running two times on the way over (yes, Allen should have turned back) but it restarted right away so Allen kept going and made it to the event. The pictures below show that a good number of bikes were present. On the way back it didn't take long before the Pitbull just quit running - it quit right near Sudley Road and Route 28. So as you see in the last picture, the bike is once again chained up to a pole and now it will need to be trailered up to Devil Dawg on Friday morning. Oh well, at least the bike made it back to Route 28! What makes this even tolerable is that Woody came down from his house and gave Allen a ride home. He had a home full of family but he took the time out to help a friend. Thanks Woody!
Easter Sunday was a lovely day - a bit cold in the morning but no rain in sight. Allen remembered how much fun the Fox Hunt was last year so this time he though it was time for an Easter Bunny hunt. So he set off on the George Washington Parkway, heading north from Mount Vernon all the way up to Route 123 and the CIA headquarters. A Harley rider rode along side for part of the ride until he turned off near Arlington but otherwise there weren't that many bikes on the road in the mid-forties weather. At the end of the ride an Easter Bunny was actually sighted - it was a big inflatable one on somebodies lawn, but it counts!

The WORMS took advantage of a beautiful April weekend and rode down to Roanoke VA for the Blue Ridge Bike Fest Ride. This was a new event for the WORMS and the big event was at the Roanoke Civic Center - Special Events Center. We left early on Saturday morning (from our usual Starbucks in Clifton) and arrived at our Holiday Inn Express around 1500. There was a little issue to address on the way (something about a hot glue gun being left plugged in and a certain person rode back home to unplug it) but it was taken care of without impacting the group. The riders were Mike, Rose, Jim, Sandra and Allen.
We had a great time at the event because we parked the bikes at the hotel and walked about 10 minutes to reach the Civic Center. The most dangerous part of this trip was just walking across the exit ramps from a nearby freeway on our way to the show. Anyway there was a stunt rider demonstration outside, lots of choppers inside, and I think there might have been a bikini contest too. We had a few beers at the show and then enjoyed some wine and such with pizza at our hotel Saturday evening while we played cards into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
On Sunday we were on the road by 0930 and we figured we could take care of one of the "possible WORMS rides" on the way back to Northern Virginia, namely
The Natural Bridge , which is near the Blue Ridge Parkway just off US-11 in VA. We should have ridden down here last year because it's really a beautiful site. Just after The Natural Bridge we found FOAMHENGE and this was our secret bonus attraction for the ride. Overall it was a great time and we can't wait until it warms up again - the temperatures for our ride ranged from mid-fifties to mid-seventies!
