Oh the rain we had on Friday and Saturday! Up to 9 inches in some places. But you know what? By 10PM Saturday night the clouds were starting to part, and the Screamin' Eagle boys (Woody and Allen) figured there just might be a chance for a ride early on Sunday morning. That is "early enough so as to not impact our 'honey-do' items slated for that day"! So we met at our usual Jamies General Bean coffee shop around 0800, and headed towards Clifton...but wait! We had to stop by Woody's house to drop off Judy's keys he inadvertently left in his pocket. It was on the way, but the boys were worried about the noise our new Screamin' Eagle mufflers would make when we roared through his neighborhood. As it turned out, everyone was asleep, except for Judy who came out to grab the keys and get us on our way before we woke anyone up.
Back on the road again, we headed into Clifton, but found the whole town was closed to thru-traffic. Seems they don't like motorcycles either. Oh well. We took a left and went up to Popes Head, a very nice and winding road that parallel's Braddock Road. Here's the cool part. Coming up to a crest in a hill, Allen saw some deer walking around in the roadway. Not wanting to start a stampede, he smartly revved his Screamin' Eagle-equipped Harley V-Twin engine a few times, and the deer promptly ran away - but in an orderly fashion. Once again, loud pipes saves lives. We continued on down Route 123, getting back into Clifton Road from the east side, and took Henderson Road down to the Prince William Parkway. A few turns later, we happened upon the house you see below, with its....10 car garage! Wholly cow Batman! There's room for more than just my Harley now! There was time for a quick photo shoot, and it was time to head home. Allen managed to lose a glove out of his saddle bag during that last part of the ride, so if you see a black touring HD glove that's made out of GorTex lying on the side of the road (Route 28 or Pope's Head or the Fairfax County Parkway), please stop and pick it up.
